CALLED TO ORDER: 7:30 P.M.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
J. Tolley, Avilla, Vinup, Atkinson, Hargreaves, Spencer, Morissette, Platt, Coulter, Morton, Louden,
R. Coleman, K. Coleman, Jay Wilson, Munch, Waters, Brooks, Kahler and Walde.
MINUTES:
MOTION by Avilla to accept minutes from April 07, 2005, 2nd Morissette, motion carried.
TREASURER REPORT:
MOTION by Morissette to move $27.78 from line 10a to line 10b, this is for lodging at the F.P.F.
Convention in Jacksonville Fl., 2nd Coulter, motion carried.
MOTION by Atkinson for the Melbourne Firefighters Local 1951 to look into taking over the Zachary
Project, 2nd Avilla, motion carried.
MOTION by Avilla to change the name of the Political Sign Account to Miscellaneous Projects and
Sign Account, 2nd Munch, motion carried.
MOTION by Coulter to have The Executive Board look into hiring an Accountant to look at our book
keeping, to see if it is up to date, 2nd Avilla, motion carried.
MOTION by Avilla to accept Treasurer Report, 2nd Morissette, motion carried.
VICE-PRESIDENT REPORT:
There will be a MDA Golf Tournament on August 13, 2005, at the Harbor City Golf Course.
PRESIDENT REPORT:
Discussed about getting a belt buckle made for Melbourne Firefighters Local 1951, more information
to be put out later.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Discussed Union Building, the options are:
Construct a Union Hall as previously designed on the Highland Site. Estimated Cost: 180k to 200k
Construct a modular house on the Highland site for use as an office. Estimated Cost: 95k to 110k
Construct a conventional house on the Highland site for use as an office. Estimated Cost: 125k to 150k
Seek to purchase the property and house located behind Sta.71, 1303 Jasmine St. for use as an office
and sell the property on Highland. Tax Value: $67,970.00 Yearly Taxes: $1,345,87
Hold on to the Highland Property as an investment. Tax Value: $55,710.00 Yearly Taxes: $1,071,61
The Union is looking into the property behind Sta. 71, at this time to get more information on the
property.
Discussed negotiations, the Union will be meeting with the City of Melbourne soon.
NEW BUSINESS:
MOTION by Platt to donate $500.00 for food at the luncheon after the Funeral for B.C. Salmons
Daughter Brittany, 2nd Avilla, motion carried.
MOTION by Morissette to spend up to $2,000.00 for a laptop computer and software for the Union
President, money to come from line 14a of the General Fund, 2nd Walde, motion carried.
MOTION by Hargreaves to donate $500.00 from line 2a of the Benevolent Fund, to the Melbourne Eau
Gallie United Soccer League, 2nd Avilla, motion carried.
MOTION by Morissette to adjourn, 2nd Jay Wilson, motion carried.
