involved to be granted time off. The union

the book that no time will be taken from the October paycheck.
PRESIDENT
REPORT:
A memo of understanding has been signed by both the
Union and the City regarding our pension improvements. Increased multiplier from
3 % to 3.25% and supplemental benefit went from $5.00 to $7.50. Ratification
voting to be held on Tuesday the 7th and Wednesday the 8th
at the union office from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Notices are posted on the union
boards at the stations.
Status report on Station 71.
The crews are now occupying the modular building. The time frame is still
unknown for station cleaning/decontamination and or demolition.
The union is hopeful for demolition. We would like to
see some type of planning similar to City Hall (plan and build for future
expansion).
Retired Lt. John Munch sent his families heartfelt
thanks to the union brothers and sisters for their acts of kindness and sympathy
following the death of his son, Brian Munch.
Volunteers will be needed to hold signs at certain
intersections for Mike Nowlin and Pat Poole. MFD and MPD are both supporting the
candidates running for City Council. Also, help is needed to put about 40
Senator Bill Posey signs out. Contact Tolley.
Discussion held on Federal, State and Local candidate
endorsements. A list will be sent out.
Discussion held on the Labor/Management meetings.
Some topics included first responder Haz-mat training, specialized apparatus and
equipment and dispatch service.
VICE
PRESIDENT REPORT:
Discussed IAFF charges against BCFR and
President Zocchi (consolidation threats).
Titusville, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Rockledge and Palm
Bay have all filed the same charges. Locals are waiting for IAFF to reply. BCFR
Local 2969 is linked on our web page.
NEW
BUISNESS:
Spring/Fall Party
(April and November) to replace Christmas Party. The Spring/Fall party will
cover retirees and new hires. Chief
Salmons, Rennelle Moreland and
Sandy McCall are our next retirees. The department has hired 3 new employees,
who are on
orientation at this time. Some
possible sites mentioned are Eau Gallie Civic Center, Front Street Park, and
Ballard Park.
Contract negotiations with the city will begin next
week.
OLD
BUSINESS:
Much discussion held on building committee search for
a union building. Presently we pay $583.00 for rent of the union office. We have
looked at the house at 400 Butler St. with an asking price of $130,000.00. Dan
Platt made the point that we have cash and should be in no hurry to buy anything
in this down market. He asked that we get an agent to find us “a steal”.
MOTION by Coulter to form a new building committee. 2nd
by Conte. Motion carried.
Contact the E-Board if interested.
MOTION to adjourn by Tolley. 2nd by Atkinson. Motion
carried.
ADJOURNED:
9:45 pm
Respectfully,
Tad Hammer
