EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

 CALLED TO ORDER:            9:00 A.M.

 

 MEMBERS PRESENT:

 

            J. Tolley, Vinup, Rann, Ken Atkinson, Conte, Rethwisch and Michaud.

 

Discussed OPS MEMORANDUM 2008-03 reference making Engine 77 and Engine 78 ALS Engines

            the Union will be discussing this with Fire Administration.

 

 MINUTES:

 

            MOTION by Rann to accept minutes from January 07 2008, 2nd Michaud, motion carried.

 

Discussed Property Tax Amendment 1, it passed on January 29 2008, by more than 60% required to become law.  This is reference to additional $25.000.00 homestead exemption, Portability of save our homes benefit, $25.000.00 exemption for tangible personal property and 10% annual assessment limitation for non-homestead property.

 

Discussed 3 ½  % multiplier, the Union has the numbers now they are 5.9% of payroll, which would be on top of what we pay now which is 4.75%, the Union can take money out of the enhancement benefit account to help pay the cost of the multiplier down or see if the City of Melbourne will help with the cost.  There will be meetings set up to discuss this matter in more detail.

 

 TREASURER REPORT:

 

            MOTION by Michaud to accept Treasurer Report, 2nd Rethwisch, motion carried.

 

            Discussed City of Melbourne Health Insurance, the insurance committee will recommend to the City of Melbourne City Council that Health First be the Health Insurance Company for the City of Melbourne.

 

            The Union is looking into putting updated information and press releases on the Union Web Site and to have this information sent out to all of the Union Membership.

 

            Discussed Saint Patrick Day Parade on March 15, 2008 in the City of Melbourne, if anyone is interested

            in helping out contact Lt. Conte at Station 76 C Shift. 

 

            MOTION by Ken Atkinson to donate $500.00 to the Jaelyn Rogers Fund, she is a 1 ½ year old with anaplastic apendymoma, a rapidly-growing cancerous brain tumor, she lives east of the St. Petersburg area in Wauchula, Fl., from line 3g of the Benevolent Fund, and recommend to the Zachary Project they donate also, 2nd Conte, motion carried.

 

            The Union is looking into putting the Union Policies and Union Time Pool on the Union Web Site.
